What can I do with a Driver Feedback Sign?
RTC’s 12” and new 15” Driver Feedback Signs use radar technology to detect and display the speed of oncoming traffic. The high-visibility LEDs alert motorists of their speed, resulting in safer traffic flow. Driver Feedback Signs equipped with RTC M2M communication allow for remote configuration and automatic transfer of data from the sign to the graphs and analytic tools within RTC-Connect.com.
So what do I need to order?
There are two main ordering options, based on how you’d like the Driver Feedback Sign to be powered:
1. RTC’s DFS Standalone Power Enclosure is a low-profile, all-inclusive cabinet that integrates the radar display board, batteries, mounted solar panel, and solar regulator. It has additional room for the optional AP22 Time Switch, Guardian, and M2M cellular modem. The enclosure is manufactured with the popular RTC hinge bracket for quick and easy installation on any pole type. An image can be seen below, on the left.
2. RTC’s DFS Add-On Enclosure is an ultra-thin radar display enclosure that requires power from a separate cabinet. This option is designed to add a DFS to an existing school zone flasher system with full AP22, Guardian, and M2M capability. An image can be seen below, on the right.
Both Driver Feedback Sign options work independently, but they can also be fully integrated into our Worry Free Flasher Systems - complete with our AP22 Time Switch, M2M Communication, and Guardian Monitoring.
Why would I want a fully-integrated Driver Feedback Sign?
An AP22 enables the DFS to operate with different settings based on the time of day. You can configure one set of speed settings (minimum display, maximum display, and speed limit) during school hours and another during non-school hours, or day/night, or whenever you’d like. Incorporating an AP22 also enables you to mark the DFS on the map within RTC Connect.
Want to be able to remotely change the speed settings in your Driver Feedback Signs? That can be done using RTC Connect if your DFS is paired with an RTC M2M device. An M2M also enables the daily synching of data to RTC Connect and the population of graphs, analytics tools, and raw data that can be downloaded and used however you’d like!
RTC’s Guardian monitoring products can monitor the power to your driver feedback sign, as well as the battery and solar voltage inside the cabinet. Guardian products are optional, but do require an M2M to send/receive alerts.
